The Tokyo Bilingual Chess Club's X'mas Tournament attracted 16 of the best scholastic players in the central Tokyo area.  Deep thinkers attend this tournament from the 1st grade up through 7th grade to compete against the strongest competition scholastic chess has to offer.   Several students in Class A were one of talented youngsters rated over the 1000 mark in the National Chess Society of Japan.

Students in Tokyo Bilingual Chess Club are being taught by the top chess trainers in the world. It is absolutely astounding that we have access to these talented coaches. As always, a huge THANK YOU to our tournament director, CM Alex Averbukh for running a tournament.   Coach Binod Gyanwali assisted CM Alex with handling difficult situation as an arbiter.
Coach Yu Aisu has stopped by to observe his students playing games and say good-bye to kids and parents before his departure for his marriage. 

Congratulations to our 2021 X'mas Chess Tournament winners:

Class A: Kai Tatsumi with 3.0/3.0

Class A: Ved Bopalkar with 2.0/3.0

Class A: Lira Yoshida with 1.0/3.0

Class B: Genki Sato with 4.0/5.0

Class B: Henry Brooke with 3.5/5.0

Class B: Anton Sato with 3.5/5.0

Class B: Natsuki Takizawa 3.5/5.0

Tie-breaks applied for the purpose of determining the clear top 3 places in Class B as we had 3  players with 3.5 points.  Several players in Class B had never played in the tournament and performed really well.  Most importantly, these little kids had a great time participating in this event for the first time.

All in all, it was a great experience for young players got a good opportunity to display to display their skills.  It has assured us that chess is a game wherein children learn to be responsible for their actions. 

Start the new year well-prepared!  The next big tournament will be the New Year Chess Tournament on January 29th, 2022.   Everyone who works at Tokyo Bilingual Chess Club has been involved with organizing and running tournaments for prestigious international schools in past years.

Thanks to all of the parents and kids to participate in the event.
