As parents you influence your child’s experience in chess through the actions you display and the opportunities and feedback you provide to your child - for example, what are the goals of this tournament?

The winner of each section receive free entry fee for the 9th scholastic chess tournament in Fall, 2017.


THE 8th SCHOLASTIC CHESS TOURNAMENT

DATE: June 3, 2017, 13:15-18:45 

LOCATION: Osaki, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo

CHECK IN: 13:15-13:20, ROUND 1 TIME: 13:20-

Class A (Open) & B (Approximately rated under 800 or age under 10) 

 

FORMAT: 5 rounds, G25 + 5 seconds, Swiss, Unrated

Round 1 - 13:20, Round 2 - 14:30, Round 3 - 15:00, Round 4 - 16:10, Round 5 - 17:20

ENTRY FEES: TBCC Members: Early Bird - 5,000 YEN before Friday,  5/26, 3pm
                             TBCC Members: Regular - 7,000 YEN after Friday, 5/26, 3pm
                             Non-members: Early Bird - 6,000 YEN before Friday,  5/26, 3pm
                             Nom-members: Regular - 8,000 YEN after Friday, 5/26, 3pm

Onsite registration for round 1 ends at 13:20.

For early-bird registration, please contact us before 3pm on May, 26th.  Entry fee will be paid via a bank transfer before the deadline to secure a seat.   Further details will be provided upon registration.

PARENTS: At least one adult must be present at all times during the tournament to oversee individual participants. Required to stay out of the room where the children are playing.

CHESS NOTATION: Strongly encouraged for those students 3rd grade and older.

AWARDS: Individual trophies to top 3 players in each sections.   Award Ceremony around 6:30pm.

BRING: Pencils, notepad, chess sets, and chess clocks if you have them.
